Fees:
Encapsulation fees range from $130.00- $240.00 depending on the package chosen. Packages are listed below. Please be leery of low-cost encapsulators. Many of these encapsulators have not completed a certification program nor do they have the appropriate equipment to encapsulate safely. This is not an area where you want to hire the cheapest person. I do offer discounts for women on Medicaid and families experiencing financial hardships on a case-by-case basis.

Encapsulation Methods: Traditional or Raw
Traditional- Derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine. The placenta is rinsed, steamed and dehydrated before being placed into capsules. The placenta has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years to treat insufficient lactation, fatigue and low iron levels. Steaming the placenta causes heat to be introduced into the placenta which is essential for postpartum healing in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Steaming the placenta also kills any bacteria that may be present on the placenta.
Raw Prep- Some women are worried about losing nutrients through the steaming process. This would be similar to eating a vegetable raw vs. eating a vegetable that has been steamed. With the raw prep the placenta is rinsed off but is not steamed before being placed into the dehydrator. Women that have done a raw prep typically report bigger milk supplies, more energy and less baby blues/depression symptoms. However, the raw prep can be too strong for some women; especially those that suffer anxiety around their menstrual cycle or with pregnancy. If you choose a raw prep method and your baby has meconium during labor we have to switch to the traditional route for safety reasons.
Raw Cubes for Smoothies
Cubes- If you have trouble swallowing capsules then cubes may be a better option for you. The placenta is still cleaned and then poured into molds shaped like flowers. The cubes are then frozen and once a day you will have a fruit smoothie with one cube added. You will not taste the placenta. The cubes are in the raw state, meaning they have not been steamed or dehydrated which is the process used to encapsulate the placenta. Many moms who have a desire to increase breast milk and energy immediately postpartum, or who have experienced postpartum hemorrhaging or have a history of it will often select the raw method. You can choose to have the entire placenta put into cubes or just cubes for the first week and then have the rest encapsulated.
